Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God. Psalm 84:3

Halloween Fieldtrip: Oceanographic Center

Eli and Nicholas dressed up as "Yoda" to enjoy a day at the Oceanographic Center. They saw the fish feeding and pretended to be stingrays.

After pretending to be stingray, they got to feed the stingray! WOW that was super fun. Eli and Nick feed them a sardine and shrimp.

After the outdoor activities the kids went inside to the aquarium and saw huge lobsters, eels and starfish.

Pumpkin 101

The kids wanted to turn our lonely pumpkin into a jack o'lanterns. They decided to do it all alone. Sal and Nick did not want to touch the pumpkin guts so they used spoons, seeing that was going to take forever Vinny and Kelli jumped right in with their hands. Vinny did not like the pumpkin guts on his hands but Kelli thought it was cool.

Daddy carved our jack o'lantern face and toasted the seeds while Nick painted the lid.

Kelli and Sal had pumpkins from the school pumpkin patch that needed painting.

We had a great time with our pumpkins and have them all set up outside to great Friday's trick or treaters!

Tuesdays Treasures: Pumpkin Patch 2008

We made the trip to the Floridian Pumpkin Patch this year. We did miss the hayrides and hot cocoa but the kids found the right pumpkin to carve.

Float-A-Boat

AWANA held its annual Float-A-Boat day. Oh boy we did not know what to expect! The kids had to create a boat to float against each other. Little did we know the boats had themes and people aboard. Our boat looked like a poor man's pontoon instead of a race boat. But the kids had fun puffing up their cheeks and racing their friends.

Vinny getting the instructions, then racing!

Sal getting ready to race.

Mr V timing Kelli, then cheering her on!

Our friend AJ and all the Sparks talking things over with Pastor Nathan.
Nicholas is a Cubbie, so he raced later in the night. He puffed those cheeks really big and was excited his teacher cheered him on.

Our friend Autumn is a cubbie too, she and Nick got green ribbons for floating their boats!

She Works Hard for Her................

Friend (did you think I was going to say money? That's Donna Summer NOT Nicole and Jen!)

Our friend Jill from Boomerang Consignments has entrusted her "baby" Boomerang to us this Thursday 10/23 & Friday 10/24, while she is out of town. We'll be working from 10am until 2:45pm both days and we were hoping maybe a few friends would drop in and say hi. You might even find a thing or two that you can't live with out .

Boomerang is located at 6538 NW Selvitz Road, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.

Hope to see there!

I Did It!

I walked Torino's 5.1 mile circle! Wow! Now I am tired.....

Tuesdays Treasures: Pumpkin Patches of the Past

Reading Storing Up Treasure's pumpkin posts inspired me to dig out the oldies but goodies. Our first "fall season" in Hoover, Alabama. What a treat for us city slickers. Its 2005, Nicholas is 5 months old. We realize our cute Halloween shirts are just not going to be enough, so we had to have long sleeves on, now this is a first for former Floridians. Next we took a real hayride out to the pumpkin patch where most pumpkins where still attached to the vines! This was another first for us, I never knew how big a pumpkin patch was. After hiking up and down a football field to find just the right one, we had to carry a newborn and a pumpkin about the same weight back to the hayride, without dropping the baby or pumpkin or twisting your ankles climbing over vines. Note to self: cute boots with heals is not appropriate at a real pumpkin patch.

Alabama 2005
Fast forward a year, we are visiting Denise and my parents in WPB, Florida for Jaren's 5 birthday and decide go over to the "pumpkin patch" with my mom (this was always an activity we did). But which patch should we go to? In AL we had 4 main patches but in FL there on every corner! We picked a Florida pumpkin patch on the way home, you know a few pumpkins and faux haystacks in a church parking lot. (that's why FL has so many!) Where we can wear any old shorts and tshirts and the whole choosing/carrying is not a real issue because you look for the non-rotting ones closest to the cash register. But we got to pose with the friendly scarecrow on the way out! Note to self: cute boots with heals is not appropriate in south Florida.

Florida 2006
No need to run out to the pumpkin patch in 2007, we accepted moving back to Florida has many pros (my family and dear friends and no iced over bridges) but has its cons too (2 season summer and hotter then summer). We are going to try a "pumpkin patch" this year since Kelli has said she has never been to one. Let's see what she thinks.....
